Part four of the Business Web Basics series is about choosing a website platform, more specifically why wordpress is a great solution.
WordPress is an open source platform used by large business, corporations, universities, and mom and pop operations alike. You may have heard of WordPress, thinking it is only a blogging platform, but it is much, much more. The software can be downloaded at WordPress.org, and placed on your own server, and with it, you can create gorgeous, fully functional, and well, just completely awesome content management systems and ecommerce websites.
So why should you use it?
Short learning curve — WordPress, due to its open source platform, and the great tutorials available on WordPress.org has a very short learning curve to create basic websites and blogs using free and premium templates.
It’s free — You don’t have to invest in expensive software to use it. It’s a very powerful website authoring tool and it’s completely free. What more can you want? Sometimes something free is good, after all.
Inexpensive hosting — It does not cost much to host your website built with WordPress. You can get hosting for less than $5.00 a month! Sure, you can spend more, but you don’t have to. It just depends on whether you want to do it all yourself, or have support.
Great community — The community surrounding WordPress is amazing. When you seek answers within the community you do not run into self important jerks who do not want to help you out. You can also read the wonderful tutorials, documentation and video tutorials available.
It’s Fast — If you try it out today you can actually have a workable Website up and running within a couple of hours. I’m not kidding. Give it a try and see if you can’t do it. I have faith in you. If you need help, custom themes, more complex websites, I’m here to help which brings me to the other factor.
Outsourcing — You can have someone else build you a WordPress website without breaking the bank. You can have a fully customized theme, and website in a short period of time due to the fact that those who already know CSS, PHP and other languages associated with WordPress websites can manipulate your website in ways that someone else (or you) can’t do. There is a huge community of outsources to work with, so you have choices, but I do hope you choose us because we truly care about your business, your blog, your life and we will deliver our best to you.
